21 Savage Released on Bond, Deportation Hearing Pending

Rapper 21 Savage has officially been freed from ICE custody. Reportedly, he was bonded out, but has a pending court hearing with deportation. After being jailed during Super Bowl weekend, there is said to be no reason he should have been held as long as he was – considering he had not been reported as a flight risk nor danger to the community.

21 Savage’s management team have responded to his release on social media.

The “Bank Account” rapper’s legal team released the following statement to TMZ:

“21 Savage asked us to send a special message to his fans and supporters – he says that while he wasn’t present at the Grammy Awards, he was there in spirit and is grateful for the support from around the world and is more than ever, ready to be with his loved ones and continue making music that brings people together.”

They continued:

“He will not forget this ordeal or any of the other fathers, sons, family members, and faceless people, he was locked up with or that remain unjustly incarcerated across the country. And he asks for your hearts and minds to be with them.”

Meanwhile, celebrities such as “Grown-Ish” actress Yara Shahidi, rappers Kendrick Lamar and T.I., and DJ Khaled came together for the campaign, “21 Days You Could Be Detained If You’re Undocumented in America,” describing how several people have been unjustly detained in 21’s honor.
