More than a month after Samuels allegedly yanked Dillard by the hair and pulled her down, the former has filed counter-assault charges against her co-star.
The alleged incident occurred at a dinner party on Oct. 16, where sources informed People magazine that Bravo cameras were rolling for season 5 of “RHOP.” Dillard hit Samuels with second-degree assault charges, and the latter is due in court on Dec. 23.
“The physical assault, humiliation and emotional distress have all been very painful and difficult for Candiace, as it would be for anyone attacked so viciously,” said Dillard’s attorney James L. Walker Jr. in a Nov. 9 statement. “We also pray that Monique will get some help. The summons to court charge of Second Degree Assault is just one step below first-degree assault and must be taken very seriously. This behavior has no place in our society.”
By Nov. 18, Samuels filed counter-assault charges against her co-star after she claimed she tried to make amends with her estranged friend in an attempt to avoid taking the legal route, Page Six reported. Court records obtained by People magazine say the filing was made Nov. 14 and a summons has been issued from District Court of Montgomery County in Maryland for Dillard to appear in court on Feb. 6, 2020. This came after the commissioner found probable cause.
“At this point in our investigation, we had no choice but to file this criminal summons case after several attempts to mediate this situation with Ms. Bassett were rejected by herself and her team,” Samuels’ lawyer A. Scott Bolden, who referred to Dillard by her married name, said in a statement to Page Six. He previously told People Dillard’s allegation is “completely one-sided, inaccurate and unwarranted.” He also maintained Samuels “did nothing but defend herself” when faced with Dillard’s “aggressive behavior.”
When asked about the counter-charges, Dillard’s attorney responded to Page Six with an air of astonishment.
“I did not know innocent people filed counter-claims as a strategic move after we all know they have been charged and caught on video threatening and attacking our client!” Walker said to the outlet in an email. “We pray she is presently getting some type of treatment for anger management! The video is very clear and my client and I have confirmed with the network that Mrs. Samuels was clearly the aggressor!”
As the drama continues to pour out, fans have been sounding off online.
“I like them both! I was rooting for them 😩😩 BUT sounds like Mo was in the right….I’ll wait to see for myself!”
“What happen to sisterhood 💀”
“Whatever happened, I’m sure Monique just had enough of her bs.”
