Jussie Smollett Did Not Pay Brothers $3,500 For Allege Assault
The new developments and speculation in the Jussie Smollett case continue. During a press conference held on Thursday, Chicago PD announced that ‘Empire‘ actor, Jussie Smollett was arrested for filing a false police report in connection to his alleged hate crime attack in January.
During the press conference, police claimed that Jussie staged his attack, as he was dissatisfied with his ‘Empire’ salary. They also claimed he allegedly paid the two men $3,500 for the attack.
According to the latest report, Smollett did NOT pay the brothers for involvement in attacks, rather the actor was interested in having a personal trainer for an upcoming project. Reportedly, the brothers made a deal with Jussie to train him for 5 weeks so he could get in shape for an upcoming project. Allegedly, both Abel and Ola agreed to train Jussie, and also give him a 5-week nutrition plan.
According to the report, Smollett wrote a check for the brothers and the memo read “5 weeks training nutrition plan.”
Ola and Abel also said to have told the grand jury they were paid for the 5-week program and not for the “attack.” One source connected with the brothers did say Ola and Abel felt the amount was “a little high” but no one ever specifically said anything about any of the money being part of a scheme.
While Jussie has yet to comment since turning himself into police, on Friday FOX announced that Smollett’s character, ‘Jamal‘ would not appear on the season Finale of ‘Empire’. The explained in a statement:
“The events of the past few weeks have been incredibly emotional for all of us…Jussie has been an important member of our EMPIRE family for the past five years and we care about him deeply. While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out. We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of ‘Jamal’ from the final two episodes of the season.”
